11 Risso dolphins brutally killed / Taiji-Japan 5. November, 2013

It has been a month of no kidnapping, murdering or butchering of dolphins here in Taiji. After 29 “Blue Cove” days, today was a realization that this dark little town of horrors and the barbarians that consider themselves fishermen are relentless in continuing their profitable cruelty.

A pod of 11 Risso dolphins was found only several miles off shore and were already being driven toward the cove by 7:30am this morning.

The Risso pod submitted to their fate as they were being herded one by one under the tarps of the killing cove. One juvenile was selected for captivity and being held in a sling as her remaining family was murdered right next to her. She was then transferred by Taiji Whale Museum trainers via sling toward the holding sea pens located in Taiji harbor.

Two minutes later, two skiffs emerged from under the same tarps transporting 10 dead Risso dolphin bodies and headed toward the butcher house. It was obvious that the selection process occurred simultaneously with the slaughtering of this pod.

Trainers, killers, slaughtered dolphins, along with the captive dolphin were all under the tarps of the killing cove at the same time. Taiji claims not only are these two processes separate, but that the slaughter process is humane -- we disagree.
