Eine ganze Herde von etwa 35 Breitschnabeldelfinen (engl. Melone-headed whales) wurde heute in Taiji Japan ausgelöschtt. Die Killer fanden diese Familie ziemlich weit südlich der Küste von Taiji, trieben sie schnell und mit äußerster Brutalität an die Küste heran. Oftmals haben die Killer diese Delfinfamilie mit Kindern und Babys absichtlich mit ihren Jagdschiffen überfahren.

Obwohl Ric O’Barry’s Cove Monitors Team einige Verbindungsprobleme mit dem Internet hatte, konnten sie wenigstens einen Teil der Treibjagd LIVE auf Facebook übertragen. Mineto Meguro, ein japanischer Aktivist und Freund, gelang eine kurze Videoaufnahme in der Bucht, während die Delfine von Tauchern und Killern terrorisiert wurden.

Nachdem die erschöpfte Delfinfamilie in die Bucht getrieben und hinter dem Netz gefangen waren, verhielten sie sich panisch und waren aufgeregt, einige klopften manchmal mit der Schwanzflosse aufs Wasser. Eng aneinander gekauerte und völlig verängstigt, stießen sich viele Delfine mit ihren Köpfen aneinander um ihre Familienmitglieder zu trösten. Es ist einfach herzzerreißend diese „Personen des Ozeans“ (Wissenschaftliche Bezeichnung für Delfine) so leiden zu sehen. Es muss so unglaublich schwer für die freiwilligen Cove Monitors sein, wenn sie Zeuge aus nächster Nähe werden und die diese Grausamkeiten aus erster Hand sehen.

Die Jäger zwangen die gesamte Delfinfamilie durch aggressives Attackieren mit Booten und deren Motoren unter die Planen ans Ufer in den Tod. Für fühlende, selbstbewusste, intelligente und sehr soziale Wesen, wie diese Delfine und andere die diese Tortur übersichergehen mussten, ist das Ausmaß des Leidens das mit dem gesamten Treibjag- und Schlachtprozess verbunden ist, unvorstellbar. Kein Leben wurde verschont, Erwachsene, Kinder und Delfinbabys, alle starben nach langem Leiden im Blut ihrer Familie und in ihrem eigenen.
